2 and 3 July 2021
Kick-off concerts in Zeewolde and Leeuwarden
A flavour of Diaghilev
Diaghilev had a great interest in the development of 18th century art. He visited archives and private music collections, from which he collected music that he had edited for his opera and ballet productions. At the same time, a new genre developed: the trio d’anches with three wind players: oboe, clarinet and bassoon. New pieces were composed by composers around Diaghilev such as Henri Sauguet, Darius Mihaud and George Auric, but a lot of 18th century music was also arranged for trio d’anches from composers whose music Diaghilev had collected, such as Mozart and Scarlatti.
